LIQUI MOLY growing quickly in the first quarter

Turnover jump for the German motor oil and additive specialist

Ulm, April 2012 – The German motor oil and additive specialist LIQUI MOLY started the new year with a turnover jump. The company had tunover of €95.5 million in the first quarter. That is 26 percent more than in the first three months of 2011. Greatly increasing costs for raw materials were also unable to stop the company growth.

Turnover growth in Germany amounted to 17 percent. 'We have acquired a great many new customers who swear by our brand and who utilize every chance to be found in the sale of our products', Günter Hiermaier, Sales manager National, explained the turnover jump in Germany.

The brand is also becoming more well-known abroad. There the turnover gain of 34 percent in comparison to the period in the previous year is even more pronounced than in Germany. In 110 countries on all continents, export manager Gerhard Riedmüller and his team sell motor oils, additives, automobile care and garage service products that are 'made in Germany'. 'Top quality from Germany has its price', Gerhard Riedmüller emphasizes, but this is accepted. The sales partners in the respective countries are also aware of the attraction of an established brand.

The sales colleagues receive support from the Ulm-based marketing department, headed by Peter Baumann: 'Expressed in somewhat martial terms: we provide the ammunition for the sales hunt and do everything, and I mean everything, to expand our market shares, to increase turnover and to make our customers happy.' Everything is oriented to the needs of customers. The formula for success, according to Peter Baumann, is simple: 'We don't tell our customers what would help them, but instead ask what they need for sales.'

The company ended 2011 with turnover growth of around 20 percent. We are currently on course. The factories are operating at full capacity. This is the only way to keep up with the turnover increase. Managing Director Ernst Prost is pleased to note that people are very committed to this growth course: 'I'm very grateful to have truly wonderful colleagues that make it all possible with lots of hard work and increasing productivity, including with special shifts. If things continue this way, we will easily meet the €400 million mark this year and €1.5 billion in 2020, in keeping with our vision.' The company pilot continues to keep his eyes fixed on one goal: becoming the market leader for motor oil, not only in Germany, but worldwide.

The number of employees is also growing with the turnover. LIQUI MOLY created 70 new jobs in the past year. Three more have been created in the first quarter of 2012.
